All I can say is WOW!
I have been to this restaurant twice: once for Sunday brunch, and once for a full blown dinner with relatives. I really enjoyed myself on both occasions. Coming to this restaurant for the first time was intimidating because Cafe De Ville is an upscale place where one would expect to pay obscene amounts of money for meagre amounts of food. Yes, this place is upscale but not nearly as intimidating as I pictured it to be. Also, portion sizes are in no way meagre. During brunch, I have ordered eggs with smoked salmon and hollandaise (this was the first time I have tried this sauce), and granola with vanilla yogurt and berries, and all I can say is WOW! Everything was fresh and delicious. Hollandaise sauce is what impressed me the most. It took omelette and salmon to a whole new level. I realize that since I have never tried hollandaise before, and have nothing to compare it to, I may be exaggerating its' greatness, but I highly doubt it. The sauce left a lasting impression on me - it was so good!
During my dinner with the family I ordered corn and crab cakes (delish!) and pan seared halibut, which may be one of the most deliciously prepared pieces of fish I have ever tasted.
Customer service was excellent. Waiters are courteous and helpful. Drinks menu is fantastic, especially a cocktail made of champagne and either orange or grapefruit juice. Fantastic, elegant place that is worth visiting on special occasions, or just to treat oneself, friends and family members.

"Never Dissapoints"
We went here recently for a birthday dinner and the food was excellent. There was a group of 6 of us and the server was great and very personable. Between everyone we ordered lamb, duck and the carbonara and everyone enjoyed their meals.
It is a small restaurant so you have to make a reservation on the weekends as it is always full when we have been there.

Everyone loved their food
We took my friends from Vancouver here for Sunday brunch. The small restaurant was elegant, posh and quaint all at the same time. Every table received a basket of fresh pastries--danishes and other sweet goodies--to whet their appetite before their order arrived. My fiance had a frittata, I had a quiche special, one friend ordered a sausage and eggs breakfast and the other had waffles. Everyone loved their food. It was my first time here, too. I had relatively high expectations for this place, and they were exceeded.

My favorite Edmonton restaurant
I live in the Edmonton area and this is my favorite restaurant. We go here to celebrate most special occasions and have never been disappointed. It is classy yet relaxed. The food is wonderful. The patio is secluded and quiet and lets you forget you are on a busy street. Nov 30, 2008
A Must Visit
We had the pleasure of visiting this treasure on a humid, August afternoon. Despite storm cloud warnings, the staff willingly seated us on the lush patio (completely hidden from the busy street the establishment sits on by trellises and plants) and brought our apperatifs promptly. When the humidity turned to a downpour, we were promptly moved to an inside table without request.
The restaurant itself is lovely - wonderful ambiance, immaculate decor, linens on the table... the whole shebang. The staff exhibit pride in their employment.
The food was spectacular. Having dined in several of Edmonton's 'finest' establishments, I can tell you that Cafe de Ville is my all time favorite. I've not a single complaint about this room and I strongly recommend you try it. Don't miss out on this hometown treasure.
The only (and I'm really searching for something to criticize this place on) drawback would be parking.... but considering the location, I suppose that is unavoidable. Again, DON'T MISS THIS PLACE... IT IS FABULOUS.

"So good."
So good. I had a spinach salad with white chocolate , currents and scallops here. Mmmmmmm. It was so different and good. And the crab cakes are yum.
